Eligibility requirements
Bachelor degree
Proof of artistic aptitude (established through a two-step process: Pre-selection and, if applicable, on-site aptitude test)
Proof of adequate language skills for the chosen course
Proof of relevant practical artistic experience
Application deadline
15 March of any given year
Course commences at the start of every winter semester
The application documents must be uploaded digitally in full via the online application portal before the deadline.
Costs
€ 50 application fee (to be paid together with the application)
All students must pay a social-contribution fee for the services of the Student Union, a student-body fee for the work of the AStA (General Student Committee), and the VRR/NRW transport-ticket fee. A list of all current fees is available here.

Leaving certificate or transcript of records of your former unversity/ies
Receipt for payment of the application fee (bank statement)
If applicable, certificate of foreign university entrance examination such as APS certificate / American College Test (ACT) / College Scholastic Ability Test / University Entrance Examination Center Test (simple copy) or other international educational achievements (simple copy) that constitute a university entrance qualification for Germany such as completed periods of studies; country-specific information.
Applicant’s own work (score, sound-recording medium, videos, etc.)
Written draft (project plan) of an artistic development project (project), describing the topics and target outcomes of the artistic engagement during the Masters course.
On-site aptitude test
Successful pre-selection is followed by the second stage of the on-site aptitude test, which consists of
A colloquium lasting up to 45 min., as a reflective discussion on the applicant’s motives for studying, plans and goals, own work, and relevant jobs/activities performed to date, as well as
A practical presentation lasting up to 15 min., in which the applicant presents his/her abilities and own pieces/work (including on various media).
The aptitude tests are generally held in late May/early June. More specific dates will be announced in due course.
